Brenda asks us “Why are you serving the Lord?“.
Satan can’t deny the fact that you’re serving the Lord, but he’ll challenge your reason for doing it!
Listen to this conversation between God and the devil.
God says, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth . . .”
Satan replied . . . “not without good reason! You have always protected him and his home and his property . . . You have made him prosperous in everything he does . . . take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!” (Job 1:8-9 NLT)
And how does the chapter end? Listen, “In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God” (Job 1:22 NLT).
Shai Linne is my favorite Christian rapper. In the beginning of his song, My Portion, a preacher asks this question:
Would you be satisfied to go to heaven,
have everybody there in your family that you want there,
have all the health and restoration of your prime
and everything you disliked about yourself fixed,
have every recreation you’ve ever dreamed available to you
and have infinite resources and money to spend,
would you be satisfied…
if God weren’t there?
Too often we love the gifts more than the giver.
Think of all the Christians all over the world who are suffering persecution, tragedy, and rejection.
Why should they serve God? Why should they love God?
The Bible tells us why God is worth loving even if he doesn’t remove our difficult circumstances. The Bible shows us that God is worth serving even though he allows problems and trials in our lives.
Isa. 53:3-10 (ESV)
He was despised and rejected by men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth;
like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he opened not his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
and as for his generation, who considered
that he was cut off out of the land of the living,
stricken for the transgression of my people?
And they made his grave with the wicked
and with a rich man in his death,
although he had done no violence,
and there was no deceit in his mouth.
Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him.
1 Cor. 15:3 (ESV)
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures.

Hello Dee, I thought I should let you know, the pastor that Shai Linne uses in his song “Portion” is John Piper. You can listen to any of his songs at DesiringGod.org for free so check them out. John Piper is a God worshiping pastor who Timothy Brindle uses in many of his songs, as well.
God Bless,
Andrew Travis Pantazi
