Ten preaching tips from Mark Driscoll

December 9th, 2006 · No Comments

As a theology major aspiring to be a church planter and a preacher of the gospel, I’m trying to learn from preachers I admire. One of those preachers is Mark Driscoll up at Seattle in Mars Hill Church.

In this blog post, he gives these ten cautions & encouragements for preachers.

  1. Read the biographies of great preachers.
  2. Beware of the radio preachers.
  3. Beware of the sermons for sale.
  4. Study the stand-up comics.
  5. Junk your notes and go with the Ghost . . . sometimes.
  6. Plug everything into your pulpit.
  7. Preach Jesus.
  8. Learn from the feedback of your people without being defensive.
  9. Give your sermons away.
  10. After you’ve preached, let it go and sleep like a Calvinist.

Also, watch or listen to his 14 minute talk on these ten tips.
