I’m an internet marketer and I spent a lot of time in college (about 8 years). One of the things that interests me is how colleges market and promote their school and their website. It’s weird that many college websites are pretty bad. You’d think that we the computer geeks and teachers in colleges, they would have a great website. I think this Gibbs school in Norwalk has got a pretty good grip of website design and marketing though.
I really like Gibbs College website design. It’s not boring, but at the same time, it’s not cheesy. The design seems high tech and fresh, which fits their degrees in computers, fashion design, business office administration, and digital video and multimedia. And whoever did the color scheme to a risk with many different bright colors like purple, green, and orange. However, it’s came out pretty well. The colors don’t clash.
I really like the use of video on the sidebar. Video adds a great personal touch. Also, it’s pretty easy to do but many webmasters are not using it.
I wonder what Gibbs College is doing in terms of offline marketing. From the looks of their website, they’re probably doing a pretty good job.
