Matthew 26:36-39
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
This passage is so incredible.
Jesus did not want to go to the cross. “If it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.”
But he let go of his will to do God’s will. “Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
So, whenever you struggle to make a godly decision, remember that Jesus understands. He too struggled.
Hebrews 2:18
Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

The surrender of Jesus demonstrated at Gethsemane to the cross, was just the tip of the iceberg of His whole life. But we couldn’t see the iceberg without sticking the tip of it out for us to see. We can be redeemed because God led His Son to the cross, to be lifted up for all generations to catch the view. Jesus became surrender for us who knew no surrender, that we might be made surrender to God in Him.
