It’s time to do ministry instead of just talking about it

There comes a point in life when I have to stop talking about doing ministry and just do it. God was gracious to bring a friend that encouraged me to start doing and stop talking.

I came up with a simple prayer ministry. I told my friend, Geraldo Alonso II (his myspace profile and blog), that I wanted to take a month and prepare for this prayer ministry. However, he countered by saying, “Let’s just start it next week. Even if it doesn’t work out, we can try something else.”

I thought about what he said and realized that God was using him. See, I struggle with perfectionism. I might not do ministry because I think it might fail. Geraldo helped me realize that it’s better to try and fail than to do nothing.

PRAYER MINISTRY

Here’s the prayer ministry I thought of.

We’ll invite students to pray weekly for 30 minutes. That’s it. Very simple yet I think it will be effective.

I just wonder what would happen to SWAU and Keene if we had a group of students praying every week, week in and week out.

So if you’re in the Keene area on Friday nights, I invite you to pray with Geraldo and I at Dilts Chapel from 6:00p - 6:30p. And we’ll simply pray. We’ll break everyone into small groups and call on the Lord for a full 30 minutes.

Note: Geraldo created a myspace event for this ministry. Thanks, bro!

    Hey Dee,
You know there used to be a group on campus that did meet regularly. I know that me and Darcy, Justin W., and some others met regularly in 2001-2002 and then 2003-2004 some branched out and had smaller groups. I believe your right. The fire has to burn brighter and people need to step into action. Baby steps…=0]
