Come Worship in Texas 10-07-06

January 30th, 2006 · 6 Comments

Picture this. Thousands of Adventist youth. At the same place on one Sabbath. Worshipping God. Praying for their generation. Hearing awesome, relevant sermons. Making new, supportive friends. Preparing to serve a hurting world. Would you join them?

Two people from Arkansas are hoping you will. Denny Nooner and Mark Decker are heading out a project called Come Worship. What is Come Worship? It’s a youth conference being held in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area on October 6-7, 2006.

Yesterday students from Southwestern including myself ate lunch with Denny and Mark. They asked for our input on Come Worship. They peppered us with questions. Denny took notes of our answers as we brainstormed and gave him our thoughts and ideas.

Who should do the music?
Chris Tomlin, Selah, David Crowder Band, Switchfoot, Cece Winans, Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day, Casting Crowns.

What about speakers?
Jose Rojas, Willie Ramos the Ghetto Preacher.

What topics should we discuss in the breakout sessions?
Witnessing, the cross, end times, prophecy, the gospel, dating.

These answers aren’t set in stone, so if you have any other speakers, music groups, or topics, feel free to drop a comment. Also, drop a comment if you have other ideas for making this conference a success. I’ve told Denny and Mark about this blog, so they’ll be able to see your comments.

Obviously this is gonna cost some money with the music groups, speakers, and venue. So start saving now or find a church member to sponsor you.

Tell your friends about Come Worship. Let’s start getting the word out and see how big we can make this.

I like Denny and Mark’s leadership. I like that they’re actually seeking our opinion. They’re open to our suggestions. They have a passion for youth. And they’re working hard to make Come Worship a great experience for us.

If you have any questions, leave a comment or email me at deebarizo at yahoo dot com. I’ll email Denny or Mark your question and then give you their answer. Or maybe they’ll comment directly on this blog. I’ll keep in touch with them to keep you posted on this conference.

That’s right. Come worship is coming to us later this year. I was also there and saw and heard everything. One of the other speakers that had been considered was Bruce Marchiano, the actor known primarily among christians as Jesus in The Gospel of Matthew. We are hoping to see this really take off and be a real blesing to the young adults of Dallas, Texas, America….
I’m really praying that we get to see many people brought to the Lord through this endeavor. If anything will change lives, it will be the Gospel of Christ. I pray that through all this we will not loose sight of Him. It really is the power of the cross that keeps us going. That’s where we find grace. That’s where we find acceptance with a holy God. That’s were we find love, amazing, unlimited love. That’s where we find mercy and pardon, forgiveness for our sins. That is where we find our salvation. And it is all in Him, at the cross, bundled up in that one inexpressible gift at Calvary.
I would be overjoyed to see the young people of Chrsitiandom excited about this Gospel of Jesus Christ, “for I am determined not to know anything among you save Christ and Him crucified.” 1st Corinthians 2:2 “And I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me.”
I am hoping that this big event will make Christ the center of it all because then I know we will all come away blessed and refreshed. Praise God for all that He has planned. Let His perfect will be done.
    -Amen

hey Jonathan! Glad to hear your thoughts.

I can’t believe I forgot about Bruce Marchiano. I even talked highly about him at our lunch meeting!

Thanks for reminding us what should be our true focus in this conference. I’m praying that we can see Christ more clearly.
