(Day 6 of a series called “23 days to a better devotional life.†I’m posting daily this month on devotions. Email me your thoughts on devotions at deebarizo at yahoo dot com. Thanks for reading.)
Change it up.
- Read another version of the Bible.
- Pray in another location.
- Read a book you’ve never read before (like Nehemiah).
- Take a relaxing walk and pray at the same time.
- Memorize three verses today instead of just reading them.
- Pray for people dealing with tough situations.
- Choose a topic that interests you (maybe love, discouragement, joy, anger, worry, or friendships) and read what the Bible says about that topic. A concordance can help.
- Pick a couple of verses from Psalms and pray it back to God.
- Read the Bible like a college textbook. (It helps you do well in the test called life). Highlight, underline, and circle words and phrases that seem important.
- Write your prayer to God.
- Read the Bible out loud.
- Sing your favorite praise song to God.
- Read a few verses and then write them in your own words.
- Pray out loud.
- Be creative with your personal time with God. God loves variety. Look at His creation.
